Yoga for Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Gentle stretching and movement will help you to move your body. Yoga can help to reduce muscle discomfort, tenderness and other discomforts often associated with FM or CFS. It may also help improve muscle strength. Classes will include yoga postures, breath awareness, meditation, and relaxation techniques. I have personal experience with Fibromyalgia and its challenges. Yoga, meditation, Reiki and other self-healing techniques have helped me to find comfort and sometimes relief with any symptoms I experienced. |

Beginners-Class The word Yoga means to unite. In these classes we will use the physical movement of Yoga and the breath to strengthen, support, and unite all aspects of how we feel: physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. We start at the very beginning learning gentle movements and including gentle variations of Sun Salutation. |

All-Levels Class This is primarily a gentle class that will help you to find your edge and challenge your ability to work within it by using breathe and awareness. |

Yin Yoga Yin Yoga targets connective tissues such as ligaments, bones and also the joints in the body. Connective tissue is different from muscle and needs to be exercised differently. Instead of the rhythmic contraction and release that best stretches muscle, connective tissue responds best to a slow, steady load. If you gently stretch connective tissue by holding a posture for an extended time, the body will respond by making the tissue a little longer and stronger. Postures are held anywhere from one to five minutes. Yin Yoga primarily targets the hips, pelvis, and lower spine. Yin Yoga is not restorative yoga and is suitable for all levels of students. I have trained with Paul Grilley and Sarah Powers. |

We are very pleased to announce our newest offering...an addition to our current Yoga Alliance 200 and 500 hour week day and weekend teacher training programs...the Sacred Rivers Holistic Yoga Therapy Training Level 1. This program is ideal for yoga teachers, occupational therapists, physical therapists, chiropractors, acupuncturists, naturopaths, and massage therapists. If you are a licensed health care professional, this program will complement your current practice from all perspectives: physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. Continuing education credits will be issued to RYT's. We hope to soon be able to do the same for other health care professions. The program will run through all of 2010. Therapeutic yoga emphasizes bodily awareness, postural alignment, coordination of breath with movement, and relaxation. It teaches students to tune in to the sensations of muscles and joints, as well as listening to the inner experience of the bodymind. |
