Yoga

The word Yoga means to unite. In these classes we will use the physical movement of Yoga and the breath to strengthen, support, and unite all aspects of how we feel: physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

Meditation techniques are also included which can help with focus and concentration not only in yoga but also outside of the yoga class as well.

Each class will emphasize "listening" to your body and moving within what is called the "edge". The Edge in yoga is the place where we ask our bodies to do a little more than what we might normally do and also acknowledges the limitations of what we can do without judgment. There should never be any pain with yoga, only stretching and strengthening. Performing Yoga with the awareness of our breath will often give clues as to where the edge is for each of us. Holding the breathe is an indication to come out of the posture or to release your hold in the posture.

All Levels Class

Tuesdays (5:45pm-6:45pm)

Cost: Class included in membership, $5 drop in without membership

 

Yoga for Joint Strength and Flexibility

Yoga classes are held at The Center for Integrative Medicine, Saint Francis Hospital, 114 Woodland Street, Hartford, CT

Cost: $5 to $12 per class, whatever you can pay

Monday's 5:15pm-6:15pm
